Let us be women who Love.
Let
us be women willing to lay down our sword words, our sharp looks, our ignorant
silence and towering stance and fill the earth now with extravagant Love.
Let
us be women who Love.
Let
us be women who make room.
Let
us be women who open our arms and invite others into an honest, spacious,
glorious embrace.
Let us be women who carry each other.
Let
us be women who give from what we have.
Let
us be women who leap to do the difficult things, the unexpected things and the
necessary things.
Let
us be women who live for Peace.
Let
us be women who breathe Hope.
Let
us be women who create beauty.
Let
us be women who Love.
Let us be a sanctuary where God may dwell.
Let
us be a garden for tender souls.
Let
us be a table where others may feast on the goodness of God.
Let
us be a womb for Life to grow.
Let
us be women who Love.
Let us rise to the questions of our time.
Let
us speak to the injustices in our world.
Let
us move the mountains of fear and intimidation.
Let
us shout down the walls that separate and divide.
Let
us fill the earth with the fragrance of Love.
Let
us be women who Love.
Let us listen for those who have been silenced.
Let
us honour those who have been devalued.
Let
us say, Enough! with abuse, abandonment, diminishing and hiding.
Let
us not rest until every person is free and equal.
Let
us be women who Love.
Let us be women who are savvy, smart and wise.
Let
us be women who shine with the light of God in us.
Let
us be women who take courage and sing the song in our hearts.
Let
us be women who say, Yes to the beautiful, unique purpose seeded in our souls.
Let
us be women who call out the song in another’s heart.
Let
us be women who teach our children to do the same.
Let
us be women who Love.
Let us be women who Love, in spite of fear.
Let
us be women who Love, in spite of our stories.
Let
us be women who Love loudly, beautifully, Divinely.
Let
us be women who Love.

Good, full days are things to be cherished. We pause in the
moments of quiet and rest and think about how sweet it is to be still. It’s in
these moments that we are reminded of God’s beauty. The beauty in sleeping
late, reading books about theology, and listening to funny boys talk about
magic chairs. We take in the richness of long conversations and spontaneous
dinner dates. The day is a gift.
These are the kind of days I long for. I feel at peace, at
home, with my people and with God. But on these days, I also tend to think
more. My brain gets filled with good, thankful thoughts, and at the same time,
some very sobering thoughts. In a long conversation with my good friend,
Lyndsey, my brain filled with these complicated ideas. I felt so encouraged by
our time together. We talked about fears for the future, our love for each
other and good friendship, and about being women. And at the same time, I left
feeling very aware of how rare these relationships are. As I’ve said before, it
just seems like women struggle to live genuinely with each other.
Lyndsey is as genuine as they get. We can talk and cry and
laugh together, all within a matter of 15 minutes. We give and take, share and
listen. Our time together always reminds me that I do really have these kind of
woman around me. Lyndsey is one of the best in that circle, but she is not the only
one. I, today, am seeing the beauty of these women. They are diverse in many
ways, but they are all women who love.
Over the last few months, I’ve been visiting
shelovesmagazine.com because a few authors I love have mentioned it. Then I
opened Jesus Feminist and the first
pages held this poem from Idellete Vicker, the founder of shelovesmagazine.com.
Idellete is a beautiful South African woman who loves justice, freedom, and
sisterhood. This poem reflects her deep conviction and hope in the capacity for
wholeness within all women. Let us be these kinds of women – the ones described
here in her poem of challenge and encouragement.
As good as some days are, I want more days that allow me to
become a woman of love. In the fullest sense. I’m printing this and placing it
on the wall. Every day, regardless of circumstances, can be a day of beauty
when we are abiding in Jesus. Let’s draw close to him and be women of His love.
